Ovangkol is a kind of tree—a species of Guibourtia in the family Fabaceae. Native to tropical west Africa, it grows in Cameroon, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, and Nigeria.
It prefers closed rain forests and transitional forests, often in small groups. It is threatened by habitat loss.
It is an evergreen tree that grows to 30–45 m tall, with a trunk 60–75 cm diameter, heavily buttressed at the base, with smooth bark. The leaves are alternate, 5–10 cm long, divided into two leaflets with acuminate apices. The flowers are white, with four sepals and no petals. The fruit is a pod 4–6 cm long and 2.5–3.5 cm broad.
